Deconstructing the topics of Gaza

BEIRUT .- See coverage of events in Gaza on Arab television channels and in the West is like looking at two different worlds. Influenced by the school of thought promoted by the Administration in Washington, next to Israel, media Europeans and Americans have taken half-truths as facts, ignoring the overall situation in the Gaza Strip and much of the recent political developments essential to understand what is happening.
To understand the massive movement of solidarity that we are living in Muslim countries into Gaza is necessary to contextualize the facts and debunk some of the topics. Here are some examples.
Hamas took power by force in 2007. In fact, the Islamic Resistance Movement
came to power in January 2006 after obtaining the support of 65% of Palestinians in the elections then, in a massive victory that surprised both inside and outside the occupied territories.
International monitoring revealed no irregularities had occurred, but the Quartet (U.S., EU, Russia and the UN) froze their aid to the Palestinians with the purported aim of forcing Hamas to renounce violence and weaken the group.
